A centre for research into history and folklore
The Museum Library was established in 2017 through generous donations of books and encyclopaedias from the people of Sarti, together with the acquisition of specialised publications on Greek history, folklore, and cultural heritage.
It continues to grow through the addition of books, journals, and other publications related to the Museum's collections and the research interests of the Sarti Cultural Association "Afisia."
Its purpose is to support research, contribute to the study and documentation of the history of our two homelands, and preserve this knowledge for future generations.
The cataloguing of the collection and the development of its digital database are currently in progress.
N. Petsavas Collection.
The collection of rare historical and folklore publications assembled by Nikolaos A. Petsavas is the Museum's most important bibliographic collection.
It includes rare books and printed works relating to the two wider geographical regions to which Sarti and Afisia belong—or once belonged.
Building this collection has been the work of a lifetime. It began in 2007, when the collector started his systematic research into the history of Afisia and Sarti, acquiring rare publications from antiquarian bookshops and private collections throughout Greece.
In 2018, the collection was entrusted to the Sarti Historical & Folklore Museum, where it remains under the collector's scholarly supervision.
